Have you experienced true, full-bodied joy?

  • by
JOY.

What exactly is joy? How do you define it? How does it make you feel?

The Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN) describes joy to their students as “a deep experience of inner peace and happiness that aligns deeply with our core values + internal truth.”

Would you agree or are you thinking, “What in the hey does that mean?”

It means that joy comes from your internal feelings of being + purpose. We equate it to be the difference between, say, spending the day laughing with your best friend or playing with a new puppy versus going to bed at the end of a regular work day thinking “nothing went wrong today so, it was an ok day.”

Having an ok day can certainly make you feel pretty good but, authentically laughing and giggling with your bestie will, for sure, bring you JOY, right? See the difference?

Admittedly, finding JOY may take us putting in some work. However, experiencing joy is a decision that we have complete control over … and, yes, you are worthy of joy!  According to IIN,  research shows that happiness has an amazing health impact on our body & brain as this wonderful feeling relaxes the brain, triggers the release of endorphins, alleviates stress, supports good cardio health, and more. Feeling joy is a tangible way to improve physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health!

So, let’s dive into the act of finding joy in your own life, shall we? Here’s a great way to start to get your brain ready for finding JOY in your week ahead. Use the comments section below this post as your personal scratch pad for your answers:

Think about the last time you experienced true, full-bodied joy?

  • What were you doing?
  • What else elicits that feeling of joy?
  • What action step can you take this week to create more opportunities for joy daily this week (and beyond)?

Need some help finding JOY?  We can help!

One quick easy way to start is with Young Living’s JOY essential oil. Yes, there is actually an essential oil named Joy. How convenient, right?   When Joy is inhaled, it brings back memories of being loved, being held, sharing loving times, and helps us to feel open to opening up to love and receiving love…including love of self…the ultimate JOY!

It’s a beautiful, energetic blend that contains Bergamot, Ylang Ylang, Geranium, Rosewood, Lemon, Mandarin, Jasmine, Roman Chamomile, Palmarosa & Rose (this is so luxurious btw!).

You can diffuse joy, wear it as a perfume, put a drop on your scarf or face covering, or my favorite, rub a couple of drops over your heart at the start and finish of your day to really seal that joy in all day long!

So, what are your thoughts on JOY today? Do the questions we presented help to trigger feelings of joy? Do you feel that you can experience JOY in your everyday life simply by allowing yourself to have gratitude for the things that you already have?
